Dear Friends, after twenty years I have decided to leave my position as state archaeologist and chief of the Bureau of Archaeological Research. As you can imagine, this has been a difficult decision, especially in view of all the wonderful friendships and truly satisfying accomplishments that have resulted from my being able to work with all of you over the years. Collecting email addresses for this message brought back floods of great memories of all the things we have done together--all the successes and fun projects, as well as all the frustrations and hard times. It has been a great honor to sit at this desk. I will be taking on projects on an individual basis, and look forward to working outside of Florida more, especially in the Caribbean. I hope to broaden my perspective a little and do some different kinds of work. The state's archaeology program continues in good hands: Brenda Swann will be acting bureau chief and Dave Dickel will be state archaeologist. My final day is June 27. Between now and then I am in the office in the morning and moving books in the afternoon. Please note my cell phone number and email address and keep in touch. This is not goodbye, it is a minor adjustment. As always, if I can help in any way, I am available. Thank you very much for all your cooperation, support, friendship, advice, and help since 1983. It has been a great ride and I will always treasure it. Thanks. Jim cell 850-445-5042 jimmiller@email.com mornings till 6-27 850-245-6301 jmiller@dos.state.fl.us
